Girl Scout Information
Girl Scout Troop
The Girl Scout Troop is the basic unit of the Girl Scouts of the USA program. A Girl Scout troop can be as small as six girls to as large as 30 girls.
The Girl Scouts organization begins with local Girl Scout councils, which in turn operate smaller groups called service units. Service units operate Girl Scout troops for all age levels.
A Girl Scout troop is led by 2 unrelated women. While men can and do lead Girl Scout troops, they must have 2 unrelated women serve as leaders to provide female role models for Girl Scout troop members.
